My Marathon Adventure!

by Hayley Grigor

As many of you may have heard, I took part in the London Marathon on Sunday. This was my first ever marathon and I was amazed at the brilliant atmosphere and the crowd really carried us round. I managed to complete the 26.2 miles in 5 hrs and 37 minutes and have managed to raise approximately £3,500 for my charity, Tenovus, the cancer charity.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my supporters, without whom I wouldn't have made it. Their prayers, good wishes and donations were invaluable. I would particularly like to thank the Harbour Executive Club, D'Angibau LLP for their generous donation, the Print Room for hosting my marathon fundraiser and Sandy Wrigley and Nikken for loaning me their amazing sleep system which has enabled my body to recover from the effects of the marathon in 2 days!

Thank you all! I now have the running bug and am booked into do a half marathon and a 10-miler before the end of the year. Mad or dedicated? You decide!

The aim of Hope is to provide supported housing, for single, homeless people and individuals completing rehabilitation treatment. Their vision within the Bournemouth and wider area is to see:
  • The improved lives of young addicts and vulnerable adults
  • A reduction in crime and its associated cost
  • Safer streets and a better protected public
  • Ex-offenders and potential offenders actively supported into work
  • Unlocking of police time and strains on the NHS
  • Restored public confidence in the law
